History

This is just a small piece of information about myself which I feel is important for you to know before you entrust your work to me.

I very often see people part with large sums of money for work which is inferior and totally unacceptable, a lot of the time the customer is actually happy with the work, but from my point of view I feel they have just been taken advantage of, I am very conscientious of the standard of my work and I do things to the standard that I would be happy with in my own house.

I served my apprenticeship with a smallish company of around 20 employees way back in 1975. After completion, I worked for almost 2 years with various companies, doing many types of projects & basically finding my feet and the type of work I liked doing best.

In 1980 I decided to set up business for myself and started doing any work that came along, this included anything from Dormer windows, roofs and extensions to fitting locks & patching windows.

In 1982 proceeded to rent a workshop in the Kittybrewster area, where I started manufacturing and installing timber windows and doors, along with the other work which came my way.

By the mid 80’s the arrival of uPVC was beginning to take a firm grip of the window and door market and timber windows were no longer in demand, so I turned to installing kitchens as my main source of income. If kitchen work was slow and it often was, I simply turned my hand back to windows, doors and any other work that came along.

Around 1991 I began to concentrate on kitchens & bathrooms full time, I did a lot of subcontracting for some small and some national companies along side my own work. After several years of mainly doing contract work, I started again to concentrate on doing more self generated joinery work of any description as my main occupation.

Today my preference is still towards fitting kitchens & bathrooms, but I will consider any type project you have in mind. Over the past 40 years, I have gained an immense amount of experience & have seen & done almost every type job imaginable, but these days I try & aim to do what I enjoy best & I get most satisfaction from, which is seeing the transformation of a quality kitchen or bathroom taking place & having a delighted customer at the end of it.
